Difference between IPL, LASER and RF

Nowadays, there are many photoelectric beauty instruments. The principles of these beauty instruments are mainly divided into three categories: photons, lasers, and radio frequency.

IPL

33

The full name of the IPL is Intense Pulsed Light. The theoretical basis is selective photothermal action, which is the same as the principle of laser. Under suitable wavelength parameters, it can ensure the effective treatment of the diseased part, and at the same time, the damage to the surrounding normal tissue is small.

The biggest difference between photons and lasers is that photonic skin rejuvenation has a range of wavelengths, while the wavelength of lasers is fixed. So Photon is actually an all-rounder, whitening, removing red blood, and stimulating collagen.

IPL is the most traditional photonic skin rejuvenation, but there are potential safety hazards such as weak effect, strong pain, and easy scalding due to rapid heating. So now there is Optimal Pulsed Light, perfect pulsed light OPT, which is an upgraded version of pulsed light, which uses a uniform square wave to eliminate the energy peak of the treatment energy, making it safer.

There is also the recently popular dye pulsed light DPL, Dye Pulsed Light, which specializes in the treatment of vascular skin diseases, such as red blood, red acne marks, etc. DPL is better than OPT for the treatment of red blood cells, because its wavelength band is very narrow, which can be said to be between photons and lasers. At the same time, it has the advantages of laser and strong pulse, and it has good effect on red blood, acne marks, facial flushing, and some pigment problems.

LASER

When talking about photons earlier, it was mentioned that the laser is a fixed wavelength, which is used to treat specific problems. Common ones are laser hair removal, laser moles, etc.

In addition to hair removal, lasers can also remove other problems that are very different from the surrounding skin. Such as melanin (spot moles, tattoo removal), red pigment (hemangioma), and other skin blemishes such as papules, growths, and facial wrinkles.

Laser is divided into ablation and non-ablative, mainly because of the difference in energy. Those lasers that remove blemishes are mostly exfoliation lasers. The effect of ablation laser is naturally better, but relatively, the pain and recovery period will be longer. People with scarring constitution need to choose ablation laser carefully.

RF

Radio frequency is very different from photons and lasers. It is not light, but a short form of high-frequency alternating electromagnetic waves. It has the characteristics of non-intrusiveness and high safety. It conducts controlled electrical heating of the target tissue of the skin. This controlled thermal damage of the skin can affect the structural changes of the skin, as well as the length of the collagen to regenerate the collagen.

The radiofrequency will heat the positioning tissue to promote the contraction of the subcutaneous collagen, and at the same time take cooling measures on the skin surface, the dermis layer is heated and the epidermis maintains a normal temperature, at this time, two reactions will occur: one is that the dermis layer of the skin thickens, and wrinkles follow. Shallow or disappear; the second is the remodeling of the subcutaneous collagen to generate new collagen.

The greatest effect of radio frequency is to stimulate collagen regeneration, improve skin wrinkles and texture, and the depth and effect are stronger than photon. However, it is ineffective for freckle and micro-telangiectasia. In addition, it also has a heating effect on fat cells, so radio frequency is also used to dissolve fat and lose weight.
